You Are West Australian and your State Needs You! Twenty-eight players from five WAWFL clubs will wear WA’s black and gold during the Women’s AFL National Championship that begins in Perth on 3rd June. The Division 1 Grand Final takes place at Subiaco Oval on Sunday 7th June before the West Coast v Geelong game.
These players will fight for every mark and loose ball for the right to step out onto Subiaco Oval. WA could make history by becoming the first State other than Victoria to win the Championship.
The squad has been together since October 2008 through the WA Female Football Talent Academy. They have trained, been tested in every way and been tested again. They have played scratch matches; overcome bumps, bruises and the nervousness of whether or not they will make the final cut. They have faced their now team mates in the WAWFL and are ready to take on the rest of Australia’s finest female footballers.
Even with all that preparation and an experienced coaching staff led by Nicole Graves, they still need one more thing…YOU!
All West Australian football fans, male or female, young or old are being urged to support WA during the National Championship. Now is your chance to showcase your State, show how passionate you are about football and cheer WA to glory. Every player can run that little bit harder and find that little bit extra when they need to with the roar of the crowd behind them.
