The Coastal Titans could do no wrong in their triumphant victory over an outclassed Peel Thunderbirds.

In a match under sunny conditions at ATOM Stadium, the main issue hindering Peel’s chances at an underdog victory was their unfavorable record against the Titans.

Unfortunately for the Thunderbirds, the contest failed to reflect the intensity and fight of a preliminary final as the class of the Coastal Titans reigned supreme.

Aimee Schmidt of the Titans slotted the first goal of the match and her side never looked back. Emma King dominated for the Titans in the ruck, whilst Sara Lewis provided a tall powerful option up forward, playing as if unmanned. A match highlight saw her drop back behind the play to sneak an intelligent goal just prior to completion of the first term.

The Titans finished with nine individual goalscorers, with Ebony Rose-Antonio slotting four majors and Lauren Brynes finishing with three to her name. The only Peel goal arrived in a classy passage of play courtesy of Kira Phillips at the beginning of the third quarter.

Kiara Bowers of the Titans provided a match highlight with a strong contested grab inside their goal square, slotting one of her two majors to rub more salt in the wound of the Thunderbirds halfway through the third quarter.

Within the first five minutes of the final term, the Titans had another three majors to their name courtesy of Lewis, Brynes, and Antonio.

The most impressive goal of the match was delivered by Coastal Titan Hayley Miller, who ran along the boundary to slot it strait through the middle on a difficult 45 degree angle.

Though the match was over by the final term, Peel won back some respect after heavily contesting the ball for a ten minute period in front of their goals.

The Coastal Titans could do no wrong and with this performance, they are deserving premiership contenders for 2015.

Final Score: Coastal Titans 19.16 (130) def Peel Thunderbirds 1.3 (9)
